From Mrs S
There's good stuff here Katie. With the Cheryl Cole 'timings' bit, you might want to consider what the effect of doing what she does, when she does it,on the audience - in other words perhaps analyse what's done on the vid.

Fight For This Love Timings
Cheryl Cole- Fight for this love
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4umc87T5UMs&ob=av2e
I looked at this music video to see where the lyrics and images were related.
Throughout the whole video cheryl is singing in sync with the lysics heard and she and thedancers are always dancing to the beat of the song.
- 42 seconds in the lyrics say "just know that you're not in this thing alone" as the shot changes from one of Cheryl on her own to one with her and the group of dancers. This makes the video seem more personal to to the audience as if Cheryl is thlking to them as an individual.
- 57 seconds in is the first chorus and it cuts to the image of cheryl in her military style which a analysed in the previous post. She is saluting just before the lyrics say "we've got to fight, fight, fight, fight, fight for this love" and it then cuts back to the group of dancers. This mis en scene highlights the word 'foght' in the song.
- 1 min 35 seconds in the lyrics say "all you can do is make the best of it" as Cheryl points towards the camera to address the audience. Again, this makes it personal for the audience.
- 1 min 40 seconds in the lyrics say "can't be afraid of the dark" and the shot changes from Cheryl on a black background to her on a white background. This makes the contrast between light and dark visible on screen to emphasise the lyrics.
- 1 min 45 seconds in the lyrics say "just know that you're not in this thing alone, there's always a place with me that you can call home" as Cherly hugs a dancer. This visualises the lyrics as if she has a friend and is not alone.
- 2 min 14 seconds in there is another chorus saying "we've got to fight, fight, fight, fight, fight for this love" as there is a shot of her in a tiger print jumper and she has her fists up ready to fight. Again, this visualises the lyrics and the idea of fighting for something if it is worth fighting for.
- 2 min 37 seconds in the lyrics say "we've been drivind so fast we just need to slow down and just roll" as the beat stops and the music slows down slightly. The beat comes back in 2 min 45 seconds in. This draws the audience in to the video as they feel the music slow down and speed up.

Real Media Artefact Analysis
.jpg)

This is Cheryl Cole’s album cover for her latest album 3 words. Although there is a colour image, the actual cover is in black and white. This is to seem more modern and also to draw attention to Cheryl Cole herself rather than the colours on the cover. Although it is in black and white, it is still softly coloured rather than harshly black and white, to show cheryl's style. The background emphasises this as it is quite plain so the main focus is the artist herself. She has a stylish yet posh hat on to make a fashion statement and it has large flowers and netting. This could be ironic as she is covering her face with net but she appears to have nothing else on as her shoulders are bare. The flowers could be to symbolise her youth and femininity. This is supported by the sophisticated writing saying ‘Cheryl Cole 3 Words’ which also appears feminine and stylish.
On the back of this ablum didgipack, there was no image just a track list as well as the executive producer, management group, artists website and bar code. This will be similar to the way i will style my digipack.
On the inside there is the lyrics to one of the tracks and an image of the artist. I will use the track lyrics for my own digipack.

Detailed Questionnaire Analysis
I did i more detailed questionnaire and asked some more specific questions to an equal number of boys and girls between 16 and 18 as this is my target audience. This was just to understand a little bit more about what they wanted from my music video and to help influence my decisions.

Q1) I asked this to check that my target market would enjoy this as this is what i am planning to do for my final music video.

Q2) This has now shown me that i will definately make sure that my music video will be put on the internet, as this is where people want to view it.

Q3) I asked this question because on my first questionnaire i got an equal response to these two genres. I now know that my target audience would like my video to be to a pop song.

Q4) This helped me decide whether to base the performance in my music video more around singing or dancing. I now know to focus mainly on dancing.

Q5) This has helped me know what clothing to feature the dancers in my video wearing. I will have them wearing dancewear and casual clothing.

Q6) This question has helped me understand where my target audience would like to see the performers. I now know that they would like me to film them in a dance studio, so this is what i will do.

Q7) I asked this question to see which shot types people preferred to see in a performance based music video. They said both, so i will use a range of shot distances in my final product.

Q8) From this question i now know that i will not include any text in my performance based music video accept for the credits.

Q9) I wanted to know which colours my target audience associated with the genre of music i will be using. As i did not know yet whether i was doing pop or R n B, i asked about both. As i have now decided to pop, i know i will feature mainly bright pink, turquoise and baby yellow and possible use some lilac or grey.

Summary of Questionnaire Analysis
From this I now know that my music video will be aimed at an audience of both males and females aged between 16 and 18. I also know that most people watch music videos every other day and easily access them on the internet or the television for free. This means that my product will need to be easy to access and must be free if I want my audience to watch it often. My music video will be performance based and include a group of males and females. It will be to either a pop or R n B track which must sound quite modern and upbeat.
I still need to find out where my target audience want the dancers to be filmed and what style and colour of clothing they want them to wear. I also need to find out whether my target audience want more dancing or more singing and if they would prefer a pop or R n B track. I also need to see where they would be most likely to access my product, which shot styles they would prefer and whether they want any on screen text.

Questionnaire Anaylsis
Q1) I asked equal numbers of both females and males because I want my music video to be targeted at both male and female audiences. This is because I do not want a music video which is targeted specifically at either males or Females.
Q2) I now know that 70% of people I asked are 16-18 so this is the target market I will aim my music video to and the age group which all my research will be focused on and will represent. This means that at each stage of my production, i will need toconsider the thoughts and opinions of people in this age range to ensure my product meets their expectations.
Q3) This has shown that70% of people watch music videos either every day or every other day, so I now know how much room there is in the market for my music video and that people are always watching new videos. Therefore I will understand how many people may watch my video and how often.
Q4) This shows me that people watch music videos in their home, so they like them to be convenient and do not want to have to make a lot of effort to find one. This means that I will need to make sure my music video will be in a place where people can watch it with minimum effort for example on the internet.
Q5) This shows me that 100% of people are not prepared to pay for a music video, which means my video will need to be free to watch if I want people to watch it. This is because if people have to pay to watch my product, but can watch others for free, they will ignore mine and watch the free alternatives instead.
Q6) This means that 100% of people watch music videos that are easy to watch and therefore if mine is not easy to access, less people will watch it. In the real media industry, fewer viewings of my product would loose me money.
Q7) This shows me that 37% of the people I asked would most enjoy to watch a music video to either pop or R n B music so I will produce my product to a song from either of these genre’s to ensure it is what my target audience want.
Q8) I now know that 60% of people prefer to watch a performance based music video. This means that I will make my music video a performance based one to ensure it meets their needs.
Q9) The people I interviewed did not have a preference between males and females being featured in music videos, so I will include a mixture of both to please them all.
Q10) Again this shows me that the people I asked did not have a clear preference between individuals and groups being featured in music videos, so I will have the freedom of choosing either or possible featuring both to please all of my target audience.
Q11) 80% of people I questioned kept up with music trends, so I will need to make sure I have a modern sounding song rather than an old fashioned track to please them and attract them to my product.
Questionnaire Analysis
Q1) I asked equal numbers of both females and males because I want my magazine to be targeted at both male and female audiences. This is because I do not want a magazine which is targeted specifically at either males or Females, like gossip magazines or cars magazines.
