Evaluation Voice Over Script

Evaluation Script:
•I used a close up of each dancer to create a more personal feel.
•I used the shot in the mirror to show that they are performing in a dance studio, but I had to be careful when positioning the camera, so that I did not reflect and film myself or the equipment.
•I cut between the angles quite often, to create a faster pace.
•I got the dancers to point upwards and then drop down to incorporate the lyrics into the performance.
•I edited the colour throughout the film because there were marks on the mirror which looked very unprofessional. By changing the effect and extracting some of the colour, the marks could no longer be seen and the video also looked a lot more modern.
•I had the artist and the other performers all dressed similarly in casual black dancewear because this is what my focus group wanted and also because it matched what they were wearing in my ancillary tasks to create synergy across my products.
•From my audience feedback of my final products I have learnt that my target market do like my final products which is good as in the real media industry this means I would make a profit. This is also good as it means that I made the right decisions throughout the production processes and by following my audience feedback, I have produced a product which appeals to and would be bought by my target audience.
•75% of my audience said that they saw a link between my music video, poster and album digipack. They said that they colour scheme and styling were similar so that they could see the three products were a clear package.
•I used this shot of the artist leaning on the bar singing the lyrics to show that she is the main focus of the video and made her in black and white so these shots were slightly different from the rest of the video. I also added slightly more contrast each time this shot was shown to show progression throughout the video.
•I used different shot styles to show variation in shot types, positioning and performance and this shot from the left shows each performer looking into the camera for a more personal and interactive feel.
•Here I used a handheld camera rather than the tripod used in the previous shots. This captured the performers up close and from different angles
•In this part of the video, the shot was from behind the performers and because of this at one point; you can see a hand in the shot, but not in the mirror. To reduce this I had to crop the shot and reposition it to hide this mistake as much as possible.
•My focus group though that my music video matched the codes and conventions of music videos in the real media industry and said that they enjoyed watching the music video and would watch it again
•Here I used one of the dancers performing alone to create variation and then cut back to the group performance.
•I used the same close up image at the end as the beginning to create continuity and the shot is at eye level to show that my artist relates to the young target audience.
•From my analyses of real media artefacts, I found that I needed to have an image of the artist, their name and the name of the album on the front cover of the album. My focus group also wanted lyrics to the track in the video and information about the artist inside the digipack as they liked this on the other digipacks I looked at. These codes and conventions were quite simple and easy to follow but do make the album look very full.
•For my poster I needed to have an image of the artist and their name as well as the name of the album. My focus group also said they would like the release date of the album included.
•My focus group thought that my poster did match the codes and conventions of posters in the real media industry and said that the poster would encourage them to buy the album. They liked the images in the poster the most but the styling the least as they said it was slightly too casual.
•My focus group thought that my album digipack matched the codes and conventions of album digipacks in the real media industry and said that this digipack would encourage them to buy the album. They liked the images and colour schemes used, but did not like the text as much as they said there was a lot of it.
•I used the same colour scheme in all of my ancillary tasks to create synergy across my products. I also had my artist wearing black and white almost all of the photos as well as in the actual music video so that the images were all varied, but still linked slightly. I also had the other dancers in similar colours and styles so that they were all styled similarly. Another way I made my products similar was by using the same fonts in all of them.
•Without this feedback, my target audience would probably not have liked my music video and would not have wanted to buy it. This information helped me whilst creating my coursework, as I knew what my target market were looking for. Therefore, in the real media industry I would have lost a lot of money.
•I used lots of different technologies when creating my coursework. For my ancillary tasks I used Serif PagePlus x2 which I have used before. Page plus is a programme which allows you to create publications in which you can write text, design graphics, enhance images, import content and more and then share your work in print, as PDF’s or as emails. This helped me with both of my ancillary tasks as well as some of my research and planning when designing layouts etc.
•I also used Blogger which allows private or multi-user blogs with time stamped entries of text and images. It is funded by on screen ads and works with Google using their email system. It allows you to create drafts and later post or delete them and also to edit previous posts. You can also follow other bloggers to keep up to date with their blog entries. I also used this last year and this helped me keep all my work in one place online so I could get feedback on it.
•However for my poster, I needed to cut my artist from the background of the main image for which I used Serif PhotoPlus 11 which I had not used before. This programme allowed me to erase the background so it was transparent. I could then use the image on my own background for my poster.
•I also had to use new technology in the form of a Canon mv920 camera for this year’s coursework. And I also used iMovie on an Apple Mac to edit my music video. This allowed me to upload the footage I had filmed so I could cut and edit to. I uploaded the audio track my music video was to as a backing track and fitted the timings of the clips to it. I also added simple effects such fade to black and fade from white.
•Another new media I used for my project this year was YouTube as I had to upload my music video to the site so I could post it on my blog. It is a site where anyone can upload and share videos over the internet via an online account. This was a simple and fast way of uploading my product to my blog.
•I also used Microsoft Powerpoint to create my evaluation slides and then iMovie to complete my evaluation as it allowed me to create a presentation quickly and easily so I can present it when necessary. It allowed me to use various colours, fonts and effects to create an effective evaluation.
