Evaluation Script Draft 1
Media Evaluation Script:
- Mention Actual Brief
- Ask the questions
- Talk about the aim of creating an overall promotional tool for my artist
- I wanted to promote my artist as a young and fun pop artist, so I used images which portrayed this style as well as colours which could be related to the pop genre, such as the light pink, but also more sophisticated colours such as the burnt orange, black and white, which balanced out the overall colour scheme of my products, so they did not look immature or like they were aimed at a much younger audience, as a lot of pop artists are.
- I used the same image for the poster and the album cover and also in the inside of the digipack too, as well as the same fonts and colour combinations, to create continuity throughout my products and to create an overall promotional package for my artist.
- After completing the first draft of my digipack…
- After completing the first draft of my poster…
- After completing the first draft of my music video, I spoke to my focus group and asked for their opinion on my video. They said that they did not feel it had enough of a story to it and that, although they originally requested a performance based video, it needed more narrative to involve the audience more and to make the artist more of a focus, as she was not as important as she should be.
- Because of this I shot some more shots of my artist on her own and then fed these into my video so that she became more of the focus. These created a narrative that throughout her daily life "she just wants so dance" which is what the lyrics of the song are about. Because of this I shot her in places which she would visit in daily life and had her looking very bored, to contrast how happy she looked whilst performing and dancing. I used mainly still shots, to contrast the movement which is happening in the shots whilst she is dancing, as this again contrasts her boring daily life with her fun performing dreams.
- Talk through video - Shot types, cuts etc…
- Audience feedback…
- In the real media industry - money etc - audience like = profit…
- Technology used…
- If I were to do it again…

Poster Draft 5

I then took away the 'tattoo' text because i felt that it did promote my artist in the way i wanted it to and that it was perhaps not particularly suitable for my target market. I used the same style box and text as the digipack front to create more continuity and more of an overall promotional package.
Poster Draft 5
Poster Draft 4

I used the same font as for the 'tattoo' to write the artists name at the top of the poster. It is now a much lighter colour than the rest of the poster to show that she is the main focus, and i chose to write the album name and release date on the arm as the 'tattoo' to make it more personal.
I added a bevel and emboss effect to the name of the artist and slighlt feather the album name and date to make it blend it the skin and look more realistic.

Digipack Inside Draft 2
Right click and select "Open link in a new tab" to see more clearly.
I got rid of the writing over the picture as it was not neccessary and could not easily be seen over the image. However i kept the artists website and put this at the botton of the right hand column, moving the other text up. I also deleted some of the text from the lyrics of the song and wrote "Chorus" instead of repeating the chorus each time which made it a lot clearer and it looked a lot neater. I then moved the title of the song to the top centre so it looked more bold and was more obvious.

I got rid of the black lines around all of the boxes so that the digipack joined together better and flowed a lot more. I also got rid of the writing including the artists name, D.O.B etc as it was not neccessary and it could not be seen well over the picture. I then put the artists website at the bottom of the page on the right side column and moved the title of the track on the left hand side to the top centre of the page so it was more onvious.
Digipack Inside Draft 1

I used the image from the previous front of the digipack in the inside as i felt it promoted the artist in a more positive way. I also included the image from the front of the digipack to create synergy. I then changed the colour scheme to match the front of the album cover.
Digipack Front and Back Draft 1
Right click and select "Open link in a new tab" to see more clearly.
I changed the image used for the front of the digipack and then picked out the burnt orange from the background to use in my colour scheme. I also used the white from her dress and added some pale pink so that it matched the pop genre better.
